Here comes the bride....and groom. A charming movable arms celluloid Kewpie dolls dress in wedding attire. The 8-1/2" tall dolls seem large for cake toppers, possibly more for setting on the cake table. Dating from the 1930's, the bride is dress in a white satin dress trimmed with fabric flowers. Her long tulle veil, edged with ribbon, is also trimmed with flowers and a garland head piece. A flower bouquet is attached to her wrist. The groom is dressed in a black tux, white satin shirt and bow tie. Straight pins are used to resemble buttons on his shirt front. He wears a cardboard top hat. The feet of both dolls has a Japanese label.
Condition of the dolls are excellent. At least I found no breaks, dents, or nicks to either doll. The cardboard top hat does show some creases etc. The groom does have a couple of straight pins pushed into the back of the head. These pins may have been placed to keep the hat more secure.
Looking for a vintage look for a wedding reception. How cute would these dolls be?
