Dated 1846, a book referring to plant life, titled The Wonders of Vegetation. Written for the American Sunday School Union. The text is written partially in story form about the beauty of flowers in the first chapter. Second chapter tells the structure / parts of a flower. Each chapter, related around flowers, tells of spring flowers, the fragrance of flowers, wild flowers, reflections and the rose, cactus and passion-flower. All with religious over tones. It is 72 pages.
The hardbound covers are of a marbled black gray tone paper with cloth spline. A small book measuring 3-3/4" x 6-7/8". String tied pages. All images of the flowers / plants are block print in black and white.
Condition: The cloth spline covering is partially loose. Wear to the marbled covers. Partially torn last page and some small tears to the blank cover sheets. For the age, it is decent. Definitely interesting reading.
