A sweet child's dress from the Victorian years of the 1880s. The burgundy dress, in a cotton linen fabric, is trimmed in a complimenting plaid wool fabric. The use of the plaid trim to form a deep "v" on the front of the bodice is exceptionally nice.
The trim is also used on the lower part of the skirt and hem ruffle. Again it is used to decorated both the inside cuff ruffle and outer sleeve. It dresses up a more simple dress. Nine abalone pearl buttons fastens the back of the dress, from the neck line to the hem. The little dress is completely lined, even the sleeves, in the most interesting calico print. If you like early calico, it is a great study point.
Measurement: 19-1/2" long from the neck line to the hem. 9" across from shoulder to shoulder. 19" around the chest. Waist is 20" around. Sleeve length is 8" long. Sleeve opening is 6" around.
Condition: For the age, very nice. You will find a few tiny holes in the fabric but very minor.
