Oh, those one-of-a-kind treasures found once in a while. This silk bookmark is just one such item. Made in the year 1889 for Mr. & Mrs. J. L. Nessle, the book mark features a young girl stirring a pot of, maybe porridge. The under ribbon is a blue silk satin with the date and name of receiver printed upon it. Affixed to the satin is a shorter silk ribbon. The little girl is hand painted on the shorter piece.
Size of this creative bookmark is 6-3/4" long x 2-1/4" wide.
Condition: Ends of ribbon are worn. Remarkable it even survived 127 years.
