A nice society silk embroidered picture frame dating from the 1890's or early 1900's. The frame is hand made from a cardboard backing covered in cloth. Silk embroidery thread has been used to work the pattern on the cream linen cloth, a design which surrounds the opening for the photo (of the 4 lovely ladies).
The size is 8" square. No hook or easel standard on the back for sitting or hanging. Possibly it would have fit into a wooden frame.
Printing on the back of the photo states it is "Irving Osgood, Photographer, Main St., Ellsworth, Me.
Condition of the picture frame is nice with only a few blemishes of oxidation at the bottom of frame.
What's with the hair do of these young women? I found the rather pointed curls on the top of head interesting, to say the least.
