A beautiful set of Victorian or Edwardian pillowcases with an envelope style flap. The cases are from a trousseau and appear home sewn. Possibly never used, if so, very little. Nice condition, although not laundered, with a small amount of oxidation, just as found, tucked away in a drawer.
Each case is double monogram with letters DP or perhaps DY. Combination size of of the two letter monogram is 3" x 2". The fancy work flap is lovely, with 9 tucks (3 in each group). Each tuck group is separated with hand crochet insertion lace. Hand crochet lace with a scallop design finishes the edge of the triangle. Each leg of the triangle is 16" to the point.
Length of the pillowcase, including to the point is 45" long. The plain part of the case is 30 " long x 24" wide and would fit a pillow this wide and long.
This truly charming set would be gorgeous to add a classy one-of-a-kind style to your bedroom. Definitely a decorator appeal.
