How lovely is this vintage 1920's handkerchief. A souvenir of Mexico, the hankie is made of green rayon, or rayon silk, fabric trimmed in a scallop edge of silver metallic thread. Featured in one corner is a senorita with long braids, dancing the Mexican hat dance.
The body of the woman is printed flat to the handkerchief with the skirt and lace slip fabric applied at her waist. The brown skirt is embellished with narrow gold metallic thread in a pleasing design. Dotting her skirt is sewn sequins in a green. Tiny ecru lace edges the scallop hem line of the skirt. Under the skirt, is a short lace skirt. Both the slip and skirt is hand stitched to the hankie.
"Mexico" is printed on the colors of the Mexican flag in one of the corner scallop loops, above her head.
A small size...probably a pocket hankie, measuring 8" square.
A beautiful hankie in unused condition.
