Here's a little charmer! A child's sweet dotted Swiss dress with matching bonnet. Dating from the later 1920's, 1930's. Made for summer, the white dress is simple styling with a lace yoke on the front.
Wide lace cap sleeves and a ribbon drawn neck line to adjust the fit. The extra length of the ribbon ties in a bow with streamers falling to the hem. The bonnet features a wide ruffle to shade the face from the sun. It, too, has a drawstring ribbon to gather for an adjusted fit at the back of the neck. Then ties under the chin.
To accent the inside edge of the ruffle, hand embroidery worked in a tiny garland of pink and green flowers, gives an extra touch. A scattering of smaller flora embroidery, trims the outside edge of the bonnet. Absolutely adorable. Home sewn dress and bonnet.
Measurement: 20-1/4" long from the neck line to hem. 11" across the shoulders from side to side. This would adjust somewhat with the drawstring. Chest: 28" around. Dress falls loosely from the shoulders.
Bonnet: The bonnet is 9-1/2" around the face from side to side. It is also 9-1/2" along the back of the neck, from side to side. Width of the brim is 3-1/2" wide.
Condition: Freshly laundered. I found tiny hole in the front of the dress. One small mend near one end of the ruffle.
Lovely for photography. It is such a vintage classic style so suitable for many situations.
