Dating from the late 1930's or early 1940's, a party or evening dress in a midnight blue velvet. The fabric of the long dress is a silk or silk rayon velvet. It appears to be home sewn. The dress features a sweetheart neck line and a wide smocked waist. The sleeves are full with shiring across the shoulders.
The dress slips over the head with a short slash opening at the back. One button at the neck closes the opening. Buckram insets at the inside shoulders to give fullness.
Measurements: 57" long from the neck line to hem. 14" across from shoulder to shoulder. 36" bust. 36" wiast.
Condition: Although nice, a couple of pencil point size soiling dots and a wear to the nap of the velvet on one of the shoulder / sleeve area (see photo). The dress appear not to have much usage.
