Lovely fabric panels from the late 1940's or 1950's. Setting the mood for romantic ~ here are four mid century drapery curtain panels. The fabric features larger scale, all over peony flowers making it a gem in the classical style.
A rust or brick red background sets the tone for the peonies to meander softly from the top of the panel to the hem. The color of the peonies takes the cue from the background in just a slight tan-rose. Some of the petals are edges in pale blue, others almost white. It is a lovely color choice, again setting the mood for a classic look.
The fabric is a cotton, with a slight raised weave, in a medium weight. The scale of some of the largest flowers are 6-1/2" in diameter.
Panels are home sewn with a casing at the top for a curtain rod. There are four panels, each, 44" wide x 84-1/2" long.
Condition: Each (see last 2 photo) panel has a slit near either side of the curtain rod casing. Probably a tearing from the curtain rod. Oh yes, those nasty curtain rods from their day, probably snagged many a fabric! Otherwise, the condition is good. No fading. The panels have been stored for a considerable time, so should be cleaned to be completely freshen.
