True 1880's Americana! A children's calico slatted sunbonnet in a small scale brown calico print fabric. Very nicely made, with a narrow ruffle at the outside edge of the bonnet. Another ruffle dividing the apron from the brim and at the edge of the inside brim. Tie to gather the back of the bonnet to adjust the fit. Also inside chin ties. The casing for each heavy cardboard slat, measures 1/2" wide. There are 27 slates to form the brim.
Condition: Very nice, considering it was an everyday bonnet, with only a couple tiny pin holes to the cloth. One tiny spot of oxidation which mainly shows on the inside of fabric.
Measurement of bonnet: From center of brim to the edge of center back is 14-1/2" long. 14" around the face area of the brim. 14" from side to side along the neck area (this will adjust with the tie). Length of apron from the neck edge to the hem is 7-1/4" long.
This bonnet would not be a disappointment. Great piece for a primitive country peg rack.
