A sweet pair of 19th century black leather baby shoes.  Note attached to the sole tell they belonged to Carrie Laughbaum, Born 1881.  Imprinted on the sole, the name of N. B. Cox & Co. Phila.  (I believe as it is hard to read)

The little shoes are a low cut with two shoe buttons to fasten the scallop edge.   Also a scallop edging at the top of shoe.  The one shoe does have loss of leather on the inner side.  A slight amount on the outer side, too.  Possibly from the way the shoes were stored.   The other shoe is good.  The shoes were found in a farm community in northwestern Ohio.

Measurement:  Length of shoe is 4-3/8" long from toe to heel.  Width across the ball of foot is 1-1/2" wide.  Circumference around the ankle opening is 7".  Height of the shoe, at the center back, is 1-1/2" tall.

Carrie's shoes would be a suitable size for a doll or to add to a collection of early children shoes.
