A very nice teens or 1920's, woman's sunbonnet for working in the field or garden. Made of a black and white cotton calico print fabric. Gathered ruffle around the brim and between the back of brim and body of the bonnet.
Gathered fabric with elastic at the nape of the neck. Cardboard stiffening inside the brim to keep the brim firm. Home sewn on a treadle sewing machine. Long string ties tying under the chin, the tip of one tie is missing about 1".
Print of the fabric is bold with no fading. A few small areas of oxidation from storage. Nothing more than what would be expected and relatively minor. Actually this bonnet is very nice.
Measurements: 18" from the one side of the brim to the other side. 7" along the back of the neck, although this will stretch with the elastic. Width of brim, from front to back is 7-1/2". It is deep enough to shield the eyes and face from the sun.
Great for a primitive homestead or farmhouse decor.
