Dating from the latter part of the 19th century, Victorian era, a wool shawl or wrap. A nice accessory for reenactment apparel or suitable for a country primitive collection. It is in a red color which is difficult to find today.
The wool is very soft, finely woven and light weight suggesting it was worn inside for extra warmth. The shawl is hand fringed with some of fringe missing, or shortened from wear.
It measures 43" square. The shawl has some minor holes throughout (no major). This is to be expected, especially with wool.
