Cute pair of early 1900's, Victorian or Edwardian children hand knitted mittens, Made in a dark green finer yarn with a tad of yellow mix, the mitten have an interesting weave. Not sure if it would be called a cable but the same stitch finishes the scallop border around the top.
Look at this! Notice the top border of the one ~ mother ran out of green thread, so finished with black. Anything to keep her child's hands warm for the winter days coming on! What a charming primitive look!
The length of the mitten are 7" long from top to bottom. Width across the palm is 3"wide. Would fit a child about 8 yrs old.
Condition: although the mittens appear to have very little wear, There is a slit on one about 3/8" in length.(see photo) Maybe it has gotten cut, caught or just unraveled.
Some of the pictures do show the color as gray but they actually are a dark green.
