A lovely antique nightgown from the Edwardian years. It is a summer gown made of white cotton batiste. The bodice is embellished with mixed insertion laces, pointed lace appliques and pink silk ribbon, tied into bows, which spells charming.
Several rows of lace is sewn around the armhole opening, accented with more of those pointed lace appliques to form a cap sleeve for marvelous regal look. A very narrow silk ribbon is used for a drawstring, at the neck line, for adjusting the fit. The remainder of the gown is plain fabric.
Side seams are french felled. Just an ever so slight flare to the shape of the gown.
Size measurements: 54" long from the neck line to hem. 13" across from one shoulder to the other. Bust 38" around.
Condition: Very nice. A few frays to the narrow drawstring ribbon. You may find a pin dot hole or two, although I did not notice any. Possibly never been laundered, however, clean.
