Another lovely hand embroidered society silk picture frame. Dating from the Edwardian era, the rectangle frame has an oval opening for the photo. Tan linen, or linen/ cotton, fabric with a tinted stencil, the cloth is embroidered in pink and green flowers and leaves.
The green of the oval is outlined in a narrow gold metallic braid to give the oval a more raised area. Lovely workmanship.
Size of the frame is 8" x 10". Oval opening is 3-1/4" x 4-3/4".
The pressed board backing, at one time, was glued in each of the corners to the frame, but at some point, has been opened.
I'm not sure this lady in the beautiful late Victorian or Edwardian dress is original. However, the photo could be used or one of your choice. A piece of cardboard has been added to the back to make the easel.
The condition is good, however, needs a little glue to secure the backing. A couple small no harm soil marks. No glass nor was there any.
