A perfectly charming child's or possibly a doll's dress from the 1880's Victorian era. The completely handstitched dress is of a fabric called window pane. The style is typical of the period with a scoop neckline and short sleeves. A narrow trimming is attached at the edge of the sleeves. The only other embellishment is the waist band made of whitework embroidery.
The cartridge pleats of the waist band are tiny and fine as is all the stitching on the dress.
Back opening of the dress pinned closed.
The condition is extremely good as I only noticed one or two pin dot holes. No staining.
Measurements: 18" long from the neck line to the hem. 5" across the shoulders. 14" around the chest and 17" waist.
The dress would be very nice for a Griener or other paper mache doll.
NOTE: An added point ~ the little dress was from a small Ohio museum.
