I am so pleased to offer this extraordinary 1890's Christening gown which has been stored away for many years. It is the first time it has been offered for sale. It is a beautiful traditional gown made of whitework /Swiss embroidery and series of tucks, all making this dress a dynamic statement.
The frontal part of the dress is filled with vertical Swiss embroidery accented with diagonal groups of tucks. Narrow whitework ruffle edges the entire length of the frontal piece.
5" ruffle edges the bottom of the hem line. Sleeve treatment suggest a wide cuff of tuck work edged with narrow whitework ruffle and trim.
The dress is clean and in beautiful showy condition.
Measurements: 40" long from the neck line to the hem. 8" across the shoulders from one side to the other. 20" around the chest.
Sleeve length is 8-1/2" long. Sleeve opening around the wrist is 5-3/4". Opening around the neckline is 10-1/2"
This lovely dress would be stunning for a Christening event or display purposes.
