From the later Victorian or early 1900's era, a wooden doll bed in original red paint. The perfect spot for dolls or teddy bears to congregrate. In my opinion, the bed is hand made (possibly from a packing crate) rather than commerically manufacturered. It is a sturdy bed with nice details, such as the high headboard with beveled post and a curvature top.
The footboard, also, is detailed with a beveled top rail. 1-1/4" high side rails to hold the mattress in place. The bottom boards to support the mattress are of unfinished wood. Height of the headboard from bottom of foot to the beveled top is 11-3/4" high. Footboard measures 7-7/8" high. Height off the floor is 2". Width of bed is 9" wide.
Condition is good. As this is a child's play toy, you will find the normal usage of play, such as the scruffing of the edges of the paint along the legs, etc. No more than common expectations. No major damage.
The bedding, which includes the mattress and two pillows, is included with the bed. The fabric of these pieces are old, however, have been sewn for the bed in more recent times. The mattress is a early 1900's blue calico with a star print. One pillow is made from a remnant of red, white, and blue homespun. The smaller pillow is from old bunting fabric. All are filled with fibre-fill.
A charming country primitive for your home decor.
