Here is a sweet blouse from the late Victorian era for a young girl about the age of 10 years old. Gathered yoke with the neckline edged in lace. So are the the bell shaped short oversleeves and undersleeves. Blouse is gathered on a buttoned waistband.
Measurements: the length of the blouse from neckline to waist is 13-1/2" long. Across the shoulders from one side to the other is 11-1/2" wide. Chest area is 26" around. Waistband is 22" around. Sleeve length is 15" long.
Condition: Freshly laundered and pressed. A couple of tiny pin holes in the fabric which certainly is normal for the age.
The only thing I do want to mention as the blouse may have started out its life as a dress as the lower edge of the waist band shows some evidence of fabric below the seam line. However, if this is so, and I am only suggesting it is a possibility, it would not cause any lost of wearability or integrity to the blouse.
It really is charming ~ team it with a skirt and vest or a pinafore for a gentle look.
Three rows of tucks are an added accent to the oversleeves.
