Fashioned from fabric of an old pillow tick, this drawstring sewing bag, with its sweet print of roses, is charming. Even more endearing is the contents of the early 20th century bag. The just "as found" bag gives insight of families long ago.
Folks that were thrifty ~ waste not, want not. So the contents of the bag stands as a testimonial to someone simple waste not ~ want not philosophy. Saving string, which may be needed in the future. Balls of string, pieces of string, wounded and tied. Mostly white but some color. Different textures and sizes.
Just an interesting assortment. Maybe nothing special except to stir the memories of another time.
The little bag is 10" long x 6-1/2" wide, across the top, when opened. Fabric is faded from repeated washing and a bit of staining from storage in one corner. Still, that is what gives the bag its patina, don't you think?
