Early 1900's blue and white homespun fabric covered school book. This book was purchased from an auction in a tiny rural farm community of Bascom, Ohio. It is signed by Mildred on the first page. It is New Education Reader copyrighted in 1901.
Third grade reading. It is a typical reader book, combining text and black and white prints. It is an original fabric covered book. Not a reproduction.
The fabric covering is in good condition with normal wear along the book edges and corners. Definitely some fading to the outside fabric compared to inside, which is normal, plus indicated the originality.
Some scribbling on the inside back cover, although still in good condition. There wasn't quite enough fabric to cover the back of book, so the fabric has been seamed. Which to me, is charming.
Size of book is 5-3/4" x 7-1/2".
A neat book to add to a collection of fabric cloth covered books. Or decorating a farmhouse or primitive home.
