Cute as a button ~ no, not very fancy ~ simply put, quite utilitarian.  Still, this undergarment had its purpose and place.  The cream wool knitted chemise did give an extra layer of warmth during chilly periods of the year.  The chemise has never been worn, still with the Winchester Mills size 5 label, guessing it dates from the early part of the 1900's.

It has a ribbon drawstring at the neck line to adjust the fit.  The waist area is made of a tighter gauge weave for a closer fit to the waist.  Condition is very nice, although a few tiny yellow dots from years of storage.

Measurements:  Length is 32" long from the neck to the hem.  13" across the shoulders from one side to the other.  Waist measurement:  18" around (although would stretch somewhat).  26" bust.  Decorating for a country home?  Why not mix this charmer in with calicos and homespuns.
