An old stock white cotton Italian cutwork embroidery nightgown. Dating from the later Edwardian to 1920's era. The gown has never been worn or laundered. It still retains its paper label "Made In Italy."
Made of fine (almost linen quality) cotton, the yoke of gown is embroidered in a design of leaves and flower petals. Neck line at the front is rather a square style, rounded in the back. A pleasing scallop design edges the neck line and sleeve edge. Pink ribbon is laced at the front, tied with a bow at the center. The side seams are flared to the hem with a gusset inset, on either side for more movement.
The gown is quite generous in size with the measure as follows: As the short sleeves are raglan, the approx measure is about 18" across from shoulder to shoulder. Bust is 43" around. Waist also 43" around. Hip is 46" around. Length is 47" long from shoulder to hem.
Condition: Never laundered, it does show oxidation from storage. With a soaking these marks would launder out. I noticed the pink ribbon does have a few shreds.
What a cool summer delight for sleeping.
