A popular handbag from the 1940's was the cord / corde purse. Every woman must have wanted one of these beauties. This lovely example was found recently at an estate sale, wrapped carefully and tucked away. The handled purse has a very interesting design to the cord, in fact, down right pleasing.
Black in color, the handbag is a nice size. Interesting shape and pattern of the cord. The two handles are made of twisted clear lucite, as is the rectangle zipper pull. Cord tabs for holding the handles. It has an oval shaped bottom. The inside of the purse is divided in three compartments. A zipper area in the center, securing important items. Found inside, a small pocket mirror, in cellophane wrapper, and a matchbook advertising Vaupel's. which was an upscale clothing store here in Whittier, Ca.
The outer two compartments are open and easy accessible. Very clean on both the inside and out. Lined in an acetate fabric.
Genuine Corde label.
Measurements: 12" wide from side to side across the top. 6-1/2" wide across from side to side at the bottom. 8" tall center from the base to the top of the handle tabs. Measures 1" thick as purse is a flat style. Handles are 3-3/4" tall.
Condition: Clean, nice condition.
