A handmade lacis, knotted, darn net table cloth with exquisite needlework. Dating from the 1920's or 1930's, the square cloth, or centerpiece doily, features a large Gothic shape at the center. This shape is 21" x 21". At each of the four corners, a urn with flowers. In between these areas, tightly, tightly knotted stitches in a completely woven pattern. The scallop border is 5" wide and is accented with a flower head motif. Made of a very fine thread, in an white color. possible a pearl cotton as it does have a sheen or luster.
The cloth is 39" square.
Very nice clean condition. A few short snag threads at border indicating it has been used but carefully.
I think you will marvel at the beauty of this piece. It is an OH WOW treasure of the past.
