Truly a lovely confectionery! This ivory plush velvet girl's hat dates from the middle Edwardian era. The hat is of a velvet shaped and ruched in layers. Brim has two bands of stiffening (I don't believe it is wire) to give more stability on the brim area.
Lined in the same fabric. Ivory feathers were added at the edge of the ruffle just under the first stiffening. Most of these feathers are gone except for a few traces that remain. The only other decorating to the hat are four velvet flowers added uniformly around the crown.
The diameter of the hat measures 13" from one side of the brim to the other. Width of the brim, itself is 3". Height of crown is 3-1/2" tall. Circumference of the inside of crown is 21-1/2".
Style would be for a young miss 15 - 17 years of age. Condition of the hat is very clean and well represented.
