Here is a lovely hand made roll keeper case for doily table linens.  Dating from the Edwardian era, cases such as this were made to store freshly laundered linens and doilies.  Table linens were stored inside and rolled up. Always ready to be used, the linens would remain clean until needed.   

The size of this roll suggest it was used to store doilies, short runners or smaller center piece table cloths. 

The construction of the roll consist of a cardboard tube, covered in fabric.  Another length of cloth, hemmed with blue satin silk ribbon edged in a small pink feather stitched embroidery, is attached to the covered roll. The backing of the fabric is a silk fabric in a baby blue to match the satin ribbon binding. 

Lovely with a needy purpose, don't you think?

The fabric of the roll is such a pretty floral tied with bows.  It is, what I call almost a watermarked texture cotton fabric, in soft muted colors of blue on a creamy tan background. Just a delightful elegance.

Measurements:  The diameter of the roll is 2". round when closed. The length of the fabric is 26" long to the center point.  As the sides are tapered at the bottom hem, the measurement at each side, is 20" long from the top of the roll .  Width of the roll is 25" wide.  Ribbon attached at the bottom point to tie the roll closed.   

Condition:  Condition is good but not perfect. A couple of stains to the blue silk fabric of the back. (see photo) . Some damage to the silk ribbon binding. Decent but as you note by pictures some damage. Floral fabric is good but again with some slight spotting.
