A beautiful lithograph booklet of poems and flowers. Dated 1883, the Victorian book is titled "A Handful Of Blossoms". Arranged and illustrated by Susie B. Skelding. Published by White, Strokes & Allen, N.Y. As the title implies, the beautiful illustrated booklet features poems relating to specific flowers. Featured are Apple Blossoms, White Cover and Violets, Morning Glories, Poppy and Wheat. There are 18 pages, four, of which, are full colored plates of flowers.
The size of the book is 8-3/8" x 10-1/4" , including the 5/8" silk fringe along the opening edges. Booklet is tied with a silk ribbon, however, it has frayed . Pages are still intact but not tight. Ribbon could be easily be replaced through the punched holes.
Cover of the book is a glorious display of fine lithograph pansies in shades of purple and yellow. A cluster of pussy willows adds a extra touch to the flower cluster. Border design embellished with daisies and butterflies. Back cover has the same border design with a cluster of pussy willows in the center. Dust jacket is plain card with name of the booklet printed in center.
Condition: As I had mentioned the ribbon holding the booklet together is frayed. Also a couple of stains on the front cover which looks to be of a spill. The spots actually blend into the cover making it less obvious. Inside pages all look to be good.
