Here is a unique treasure, dating from the later Victorian era. A small chalk board in the shape of a book. The leatherette book is printed with a couple and dog on the front cover. He, in his top hat and coat, she, in her long skirt and coat. The man is holding a umbrella above their heads.
Dog is walking in foreground. The chalk board consists of 8 leaves or pages, including the backs of both front and back cover of the book. A little leather slot on the side of back cover to hold a tiny piece of chalk. There is writing on most of the pages, although not distinguishable. Written on one page, a date of 1897.
Size of the book is 2-1/4" x 3-1/2".
Condition: The spline does show wear. The cloth that holds the spline is broken partially away but still together. Some warpage of the back cover. One of the chalk pages does have a loss of the black chalk paper. (see photo). Otherwise the normal wear and handling over the last 100 years.
Still a very neat unusual item
