A hand made black knitted winter cape, capelet or shawl, with 3" twisted fringe, from the later Victorian era. Dates 1890's or about, the cape is in excellent condition. Made of a pretty style, with a scallop edge at the neck line and looped twisted fringe at the hem line.
Scallop edge, also, at the front opening on either side. Black silk ribbon is laced through out the length of cape in eleven different places. Then inserted around the neck line to tie at the neck area.
Length of the cape is 18-1/2" long (including the fringe). Length along the hem line from the front opening to the other side of front opening is 72" . Very nice clean condition.
A beautiful cape for costuming, photography or other happenings.
