What could be more uniquely fanciful than a Victorian whimsey? This lovely poured wax miniature doll or half figure (as it is only a front view) is well preserved under a glass dome. The detail of the woman, dressed in a 1880's costume, is amazing.
The artistic work of painting the hair ringlets, facial features and embellishments of her dress, are quite nice. She wears a gold necklace and green scarf. In one hand holds a pine branch. The magic of her loveliness just draws you in. The figure is mounted on a cardboard disc, with the dome glued to the cardboard.
The size of the glass dome is 4" tall. Diameter is 1-3/4". Size of just the doll is 2-3/4" tall
Condition: although very nice, she does lean slightly forward in the dome.
Were these figures under glass given as Valentines, Christmas or other special gifts? Possibly.
