Here is a wonderful later 19th century patriotic Americana towel. The fringe towel is unused, still with handwritten price/stock. Made of linen damask, in an off white or more natural color, the motif is a moon (or sun) with a ring of stars surrounding.
The border on either end of the towel are printed in red and blue with the stars /moon motif. A band of narrow red and blue stripes give prominence to this motif. Hand knotted fringe just adds to the beauty. Attached is a hand written note "From Grandma Myers, mamma's mother."
Size is 38" long, including the 3-1/4" fringe. Width is 19-3/4" wide. Condition is good for the age. Unused. Some oxidation from storage.
Although what research I have done, without finding, this towel could be souvenir of the 1876 Centennial which was held in Philadelphia
