Here is a lovely lady's 2 piece suit dating from the vintage years of the 1930's. The discerning classy suit is made of black crepe, with a soutache braid embellishment, on the lower part of the skirt and jacket.  The soutache is an intricate design of leaf and small scroll work, which is quite impressive.

The skirt is gored with a side closure of hook and eyes.  The jacket is contructed with a false blouse front in a bold golden rod yellow crepe.  This front is sewn to the inside lapels of the jacket.  The blouse also has a pointed collar.  The front of blouse is closed with three snaps, accented with two fake buttons in an elongated shape of gold plastic.  The shoulders of the jacket are wide with thick padding.  Shirring of the fabric just below the shoulders on the front of jacket only.  Long sleeves with the cuffs fastening with two round self covered fabric buttons.  Braid loops for fastening. Jacket fastens at the waist with hooks and thread loops.  Two darts on either side, near the waist, on both the front and back, of jacket to give it more fit.

There are no labels.  I believe the outfit is home sewn, buying the yardage already with the soutache braid attached, and then mastering the construction. No small feat I would say.

Measurements:  The jacket:  24" long from center back at neck line to the hem.  15" across from shoulder to shoulder.  34" bust.  Waist 28".  Skirt length is 27-1/2" long from waist to hem.  26" around the waist. Although there are two tucks on the waist band (back and front) that could be let out for an extra 1-1/2" to 2".  Hip:  32 to 33".

Condition:  The garment has been professionally dry cleaned very recently.  The collar of the blouse still shows some slight soiling but minor.  The jacket has thread belt loops for belt but no belt.  Otherwise, unless I missed a small hole or pulled thread, I found nothing, except the flaws I mentioned.
