An adorable vintage 1920's, 1930's celluloid baby rattle. What infant wouldn't delight in this colorful chick breaking out of its egg shell, ready to rattle "a smile". Twisted handle with loop at the bottom for baby to clutch. Very nice detail of the chick's face and upper body, even the cracks of the egg breaking as chick hatches. Very cute.
Size of the rattle is 7-1/2" long x 2" wide at the widest point or 9-1/2" circumference around the egg.
Condition: Very nice. Good coloration of the face of the chick, no paint loss. Seams of the celluloid tight. No dents or breaks. A tiny dot of red on the band around the egg. It shows less in person than in picture. I assume it may have been some paint.
