A gorgeous pair of hand embroidery Madeira pillowcases, in nice condition, dating from about 1930's or 1940's. The lovely fancy work is in a silver tone embroidery of a handled basket overflowing with trailing flowers.
The profuse use of french knots sets the stage, incorporated with pulled, drawn thread needlework. A delightful display, so pleasing to the eye. Scallop edge on both front and back of cases.
The beautiful work is just on the front of cases about 7-1/2" in height x 13" wide at the base of the hem. Pure cotton fabric in a fine batiste.
Although nice you will find some oxidation from storage and should be laundered to freshen. I noticed at the one corner (on the back)a few pin holes. No harm. This is practically in the seam. Size is 19-1/2" wide x 35" long.
Perfect touch for decorating a romantic bedroom.
