Vintage 1930's or 1940's, hand made butterfly hot pad holder. Now, how can you say this isn't plain cute? Made of a cheerful red flower print flour sacking fabric, with solid red fabric appliqued on the front of wings.
The use of blanket stitch embroidery off setting the applique is a perfect choice. Blue and black embroidery thread has also been used to define the body. A loop at the top, for hanging, is made of crochet in an ecru thread.
This darling little insect measures 6-3/4" across the top of wing span x 5" long from tip to tip.
Condition: Very nice. If it has been used, it doesn't appear to be. Fabrics are bright without fading.
Here's a just for fun addition to any kitchen, retro or country farmhouse home. Gift giving? Make a recipient smile.
