Children raised during the Depression relied on their imagination for play, with a few sprinkling of toys, either store bought or hand made. Mostly hand made, as is this delightful child's spinning top. Cleverly done, it made from a metal ring, sheet metal and a wood spool with attached nail. All welded together, then painted red, white and blue. Now, how patriotic is that! Folks may have been poor but proud Americans.
I can only imagine the delight the child had playing with this top. Perfect size to slide into a pocket, always ready for quick play. The top is 2-1/4" in diameter x 1" in height.
Condition: Very nice patina.
