An adorable unworn baby dress from the later 1930s or 1940s. The dress is made in a soft batiste white cotton. The yoke is made of four rows of pin tucks, in a series of four, on the front dress yoke.
Each set is separated with a row of feather stitch embroidery. Narrow lace trim edges the neck line and short puff sleeves. A wider Alencon lace edges the hem. Two acetate ribbon bows, with streamers, are attached at the shoulders. The back of the dress is made on a plain yoke with two buttons fastening the closing.
No labels to indicate the origin nor any size tags. It would probably fit a child about 4 to 6 months of age.
Measurements: 15-1/4" long from the neck line to hem. 9-1/2" across from shoulder to shoulder. 23" around the chest.
Condition: Unworn and never laundered. You will find some oxidation from years of storage. Otherwise lovely.
Suitable for Christening or photography. Or just to display.
