Here's a simple brown calico long doll dress in a small scale dot fabric. A suitable dress for a china, paper mache or tin head doll, it is from the 19th Century. All hand stitched, the dress is a fitted style, with gored panels. It has a simple round neck line, long sleeves and a 2" wide ruffle at the hem. The cuff of the sleeve and the banded ruffle is trimmed with a narrow solid red fabric. No fastenings at the back opening.
Size: From the neck line to the hem it is 17" long. 4-3/4" across from shoulder to shoulder. Sleeve length is 3-5/8" long. Cuff opening is 2" circumference. 9-1/2" around the chest. 9" around the waist.
Condition: A few frays of fabric on the front of bodice. At one shoulder seam, the thread has broken and would need restitched. A simple task. A fading spot on ruffle near one side. For the age very decent condition.
An endearing textile for a country primitive or farm house home.
