This vintage banquet size Alencon lace tablecloth is so elegant in design. It is truly a lovely example of Leavers lace. The cloth's beautiful flowing motif creates a sense of flowers in motion, which is predominantly the focal point of the splendid lace.
The color of the cloth is a soft ivory and I doubt ever laundered or perhaps even ever used. Label on the back is marked MADE IN FRANCE.
I would date vintage years of 1920's perhaps as late as the 1940s.
The edging of the cloth is highlighted with a soft scallop in flower and perhaps you would say, a petal design. Another lovely feature of the cloth.
I feel it has never been laundered and possibly never even used. Maybe even given as a wedding gift all so long ago. It is a generous size 66" wide x 88" long.
Condition: Quite lovely, however, I did find a small amount of dark smudge marking together in one area (see photo). Other than this, the cloth is very nice.
Just a note as to the color, the last photo is the cloth taken next to a white bedspread so you can see the ivory color of the tablecloth.
