A calico primitive farmhouse sunbonnet from the early 1900's. The wonderful old fabric is a maroon with white dot. The stiffened brim is embellished with a decorative thread stitch. A ruffle around the face area, with a tiny bit of lace edging the ruffle. A spectacular prairie bonnet for wearing or decorating purposes.
Inside drawstring to adjust the fit on the back of the neck. Also ties on the outside to gather the back. Ties on the front to secure under the chin. The bonnet appears to be a purchased bonnet and appears to have had little or no usage. I found a partial paper label still on one of the string ties.
Condition: Very nice.
Size: 28" from side to side, along the face area. 10" around the back of the neck, from side to side. This would adjust smaller with the ties.
