From the Art Nouveau to early 1920's, a lovely round gilted brass vanity tray with glass inset, marked APOLLO 2696. The outside of the tray, itself, is embossed with a leaf and flower design.
The inner part of the frame holding the glass, also is embellished with a different motif of tiny floral. Culminating the lovely tray are the two handles, again, with a floral design.
Feet of the tray are brass in a button style. I especially love the lace doily inset of this tray.
I would also say more unusual, as most trays found with doilies are the standard flowers in one shape or another. This one, highlights a scene of trees on a bank of water with what I see is a windmill and sailboat. The scene is framed with a circle of flowers.
Marked on the back of the tray APOLLO 2696 (or maybe a 5). Another 6 is spaced apart. In reading about this company, I believe that number (6) references the designer.
Size of the tray is 6-1/2" diameter. Height is 3/4" tall.
Condition is quite nice.
Another bit of history.... from what I read about this company, the marked items were made from 1909 to 1922. Even though manufacturing continued into later years, earlier time period seems to be their most detailed.
