It seems I find bits and pieces of old holly Christmas ribbon but never on the original spool. This piece dates from about 1920's and is a rayon-silk or rayon. It is a great holly pattern measuring 4 yds 35" long x 1/4" wide. No markings on the spool as to manufacture.

And yet another one found at the same time, only in a different style.  It, too, is a silk rayon. 

The ribbons were suitable for gift wrapping as well as being used in sewing projects.  I have seen a number of cloth needle cases, pincushions etc., decorated with tidbits of this style of ribbon.
