Vintage home sewn war years tan wool knit dress from the early 1940's. A cute collarless style (slightly rolled edge) with shirt waist button front opening. Three green plastic buttons fasten the front.

Attached short skirt at the waist. The front and back of skirt also features a partially sewn down kick pleat at center, for extra ease of movement.

Sleeve length is 11-1/2" long with a narrow turned up cuff. Padded shoulders.

The front of the bodice is accented with sewn in plackets extending to edge of shoulder seam. Highlight of the placket is the arrow shape slashed opening which is edged in green faille ribbon.

This same treatment appears on the skirt. This nice little feature on the skirt would be great for securing a handkerchief. Side seam has a metal zipper for ease of dressing.

The waist is embellished with an attractive green kid leather belt. Thread loops secure the belt at the side seams. Loops are in very nice condition. Again, I believe this is home sewn. There are no labels.

Seams are pinked. Hem and inside edge of sleeves are finished with bias tape.

Measurements: Bust is 32" around. 26" waist. 37-1/2" long from the neck line to hem. Width is 16" across from shoulder to shoulder. Hip 31" around.

Condition: Although nicely made and clean, the fabric is a wool knit so you will find some moth holes and normal wear. Not a lot and all are small.
