Loved this purple heart shaped cardboard candy box the minute I seen it!! Dating from the 1920s, the lid top is made of padded satin silk over the cardboard. The top also features hand painted panies flowers, in lavender and yellow, plus a ribbon bow. A decorative touch to the sides of the lid, uses the same satin fabric in a fluted form. The remainder of the box is white cardboard. Some, but not all, of the paper doily liner remains.
A handwritten note on the bottom indicates the candy was a gift.
Size of the box is 7" long from top of heart to the point. Width at the widest point is 7" wide.
Condition: Some shredding of the silk fabric along one edge and a tiny bit at the point on the lid. On the inside, some paper doily loss. Some soiling and foxing of cardboard. Still, the all over condition is nice for the age.
