Here is a tiny treasure from the past, especially if you love 1890's quilting and miniature children's items. Perfect for the farmhouse rustic primitive lover!
Dating from the 19th century, this fine old hand stitched hot pad holder is made of solid blue, red and brown fabrics to form a star. Hour glass pattern? Fabric at each of the four corners are a calico small flower pattern.
A round pink fabric applique is stitched to the center of five of the blocks. Maybe to resemble a flower head?
Backing is a plaid in a red, (kind of) white and blue fabric. The binding is off white and stitched and is hand stitched. As is the entire hot pad potholder.
At one corner, a twisted thread loop for hanging (just like mother's).
It is 2-1/2" square. Much beauty is packed in this small square! Condition: Good for the age. Some oxidation.
