A wonderful old sewing thread winder.  Made of carved bone, the 19th century winder is embellished with a crane (or similar bird) on the one end. Nicely detailed, especially the piercing of the crane and incising of the wings. This is the true definition of beauty meets utility. 

Size:  4-1/4" long.  5/8" at the widest point through the center of the winder.

Condition:  Very nice.
