So beautiful and so vintage 1920's Flapper era bed bonnet. Made of a gorgeous shade of pink satin, the bonnet is trimmed with ecru hand crochet embellishment. A butterfly fillet crochet inset at the top of the crown. Further, more fillet crochet trims the bottom edge of the bonnet.
Ribbon covered long wire is laced through the crochet to form stiffened points, on either side of the head. This gives the bonnet a decided Art Deco helmet look. Small crochet rosettes accent the top of the wired ribbon. Narrow pink ribbon is also laced horizontally through the crochet headband for another pleasing accent. The beauty of this bonnet would not disappoint.
However, the one drawback, there is a small split of fabric of the pink satin, just off side to the front. Another to the lower side that is even smaller. I believe with carefully handling, the bonnet would gives years of enjoyable display. Or for research.
Size: 20" around the crochet headband. 12" long from the middle of the crown to the tip of the wired ribbon. 7" long from the crown to forehead. 9" in length from the middle of crown down the back to edge of crochet trim.
I doubt the bonnet has ever been worn.
